Job Applicant FAQs: Your Questions Answered

How much and when do I get paid?

Each stand manager earns a salary based on how long your location is open. To get a better idea of how well Gorilla Fireworks pays, go to our Pay Schedule section. All employees get paid in full on or about July 18th via check. Last year our average manager made approximately $3,150.00 working 17 days.

What is the dress code for location managers and staff members?

You can feel free to dress casual. You will be working outside during June and July. It is acceptable to wear jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, or sandals.

What does the typical day consist of as a firework stand manager?

Our fireworks stands are self-locking and operate similarly to a traditional retail store. On your first day, a district manager will meet you on-site to provide hands-on training on our operating procedures. Together, you will set up your retail display, which can be a time-consuming process and may take most of the day. Maintaining a clean and organized display is essential to ensure a professional presentation.

After the setup is complete, your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers in selecting fireworks, processing transactions using our POS system, and restocking inventory as needed. During your first few days, you’ll be expected to learn product pricing and become familiar with other operational procedures.

How will I explain to customers what each firework does?

Each firework will have price sign, featuring a detailed description of its performance. Most of our inventory includes a QR code that provides a video preview of the firework’s display.

What type of person typically operates or manages a firework tent/stand sale?

The majority of our employees are school teachers, college students, and affiliated members. To be considered for an interview for a manager position at one of our fireworks locations, you must meet the qualifications outlined in the Employment section.

What if I do not have retail experience?

While retail experience is a plus, it’s not required. We’re seeking energetic and responsible adults who are ready to work hard for a three-week period. If you don’t have retail experience, don’t worry — we provide comprehensive training on all aspects of the business.

What safety measures are in place since I am often working alone?

Our locations are usually situated in well-lit, high-traffic shopping centers. While you’ll often work alone, your stand will typically close around dusk or 9 PM. On the nights you’re required to stay open after dark, you’ll have a team member with you, ensuring you’re not alone.

Who will I be working with?

For most of the season, you will work independently as the sole employee. However, during our peak sales period from July 1 to July 5, when we experience the highest volume of business, you will need to hire additional staff to assist you. The number of employees required is generally based on sales from previous years. Since you will be working alone for the majority of the time, it’s essential that you feel comfortable managing the stand independently.

Who pays the people I am required to hire? Does their pay come out of my salary?

Absolutely not. The staff you hire will be paid directly by us, and their wages will not be deducted from your salary. They are required to complete tax forms and will receive their paychecks at the same time as managers.

I see a range of dates and pay on the pay schedule. How will I know the specifics of the job?

If you’re hired by Gorilla Fireworks, you’ll be assigned a specific location, start date, and end date. Your exact pay will be determined based on these factors, following the Pay Schedule.
